Lorelei Wey (she/her)
I journeyed to the field of counselling as a second career after working for 16 in years in healthcare as a neurodiagnostic technologist in a busy hospital setting. As much as I loved my previous career, I felt a need to re-evaluate my career during the global pandemic. During that time I completed a Master of Counselling degree at City University of Seattle. I also hold a Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia in Biochemistry. I believe my unique experience of working in healthcare gives me an additional lens when working with clients.

When working with clients I use a trauma informed, client centered and strength based approach. I hold additional trainings in

-
Sanyas Indigenous Cultural Training
-
Mindfulness Certification Course
-
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) Training
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Areas of Interest
I have a special interest in helping people and their caregivers who live with chronic health conditions and in particular neurological conditions. This may involve living with societal stigma, finding meaning in day to day life, or caregiver burnout - just to name a few.

My capstone project for my Masters of Counselling degree was on the myriad of complexities of living with psychogenic non-epileptic seizures - click here to read it.
Outside of Work

I am a running enthusiast and have competed in 6 marathons. I also compete regularly in half marathons and other distances. In addition I also enjoy swimming, hiking, and cycling - when I get the chance.

I can also be found spending time with my husband, two young boys, and two dogs.
